The Problem

Confusing navigation. Three tabs (Sacred Texts, The Proof, Nobel Prizes) with a sub-nav underneath. Users don't know where they are or how to get back.
No search. 80+ entries and no way to find what you're looking for without scrolling through everything.
Flat structure. Sacred Texts dumps 20+ traditions into one scroll. No way to drill into Hinduism vs. Judaism vs. Islam without hunting.
No breadcrumbs. Once you click a sub-nav item, you lose context of where you are in the hierarchy.

The Solution

Drill-in / drill-out hierarchy with breadcrumbs at every level. Click a category to see sub-categories. Click a sub-category to see entries. Breadcrumb lets you jump back to any level instantly.
Live search bar that auto-filters as you type. Matches title and description. Flattens the hierarchy into a filtered result list. Clear to snap back.
Mineral tag filters (sodium, potassium, magnesium, water) that combine with search and hierarchy. Active at every level.

Data Architecture

Each entry gets tagged with category, sub-category, and minerals as data attributes. The JS reads these to build the hierarchy dynamically.

Breadcrumb + Drill-In/Out
  • Replace tab/sub-nav system with hierarchical navigation
  • Breadcrumb bar always visible below search
  • Category cards (Level 0) → Sub-category cards (Level 1) → Entry list (Level 2)
  • Click breadcrumb to jump back to any level
Phase 3
Live Search
  • Search bar at top, always visible
  • Filters as you type — no submit button needed
  • Matches against entry-title and entry-body text
  • When search is active: hierarchy flattens, results show with breadcrumb context
